Hunter Robbins - Florida Atlantic University

On Episode 2 we have Hunter Robbins, recent graduate from Florida Atlantic University discuss his incredible journey from being top 20 in the state of Florida in the 12’s, to burning out, being #287 on the recruiting list, quitting tennis for 3 months during his freshman year of college, and ultimately walking on to the FAU team and being a consistent starter his last two years.

Some highlights of the interview:

  • Started playing tennis so young he couldn’t even remember when he started.

  • Played multiple sports growing up, including soccer until 12 and baseball until 15 years old.

  • Struggled with the travel portion of tennis.

  • Ultimately had to work with a mental strength coach to work through it.

  • Burnt out during his teenage years.

  • Didn’t know his UTR until he got to college.

  • Gave up on college tennis and went to FAU to be a regular student, until a conversation with a girl at a bar changed everything.
